my mom is my inspiration
My mother bravely got her first Cochlear Implant in 2018, while I was working at Stanford. And It only took me 6 years to convince her it could help her;) We worked hard on her therapy and now she’s hearing better than ever! she’s enjoying music for the first time, hearing the differences between the birds chirping, it’s truly remarkable what her cochlear implant has done for her and it’s offered so much more ease for her to communicate with anyone she pleases. I have been fortunate to work with many adults at Stanford and also privately through my own practice. It’s never too late or too early to start therapy once you get your cochlear implant.

focus areas
• Adjusting to new sound and managing listening fatigue
• Speech sound clarity
• Improving word recognition scores
• Listening to noise and different speakers/accents
• Speech intelligibility and conversational confidence
• Strategies for meetings, phone/video calls, restaurants, and group settings
• Using additional equipment (i.e. Roger or Mini Mic)
• Self‑advocacy and mindset support
I’ve had my cochlear implant for over a year and my progress had stalled. My audiologist suggested working with a speech pathologist to improve my word recognition. We started working with Kim and since then I have doubled my word recognition. Kim helped me to identify my goals and expectations and tailored a program that has made those goals achievable. She has been there to celebrate all my wins, both big and small.

AB Recipient, Bimodal
Kimberlee is a very pleasant and patient person. She has helped me overcome a lot of the challenges with learning to hear again. Just working over Zoom has its own challenges but the convenience sure is nice. This coupled with Kimberlee’s solid tele-therapy skills I feel very comfortable learning remote. Kimberlee has also done a great job in teaching me how to use the cochlear accessories.

Debbie
Single Sided, Cochlear Recipient
I am single-sided deaf and felt my cochlear implant progress had leveled off after ten months. My audiologist said this was likely as good as it would get, which was discouraging, but working with Kim changed everything. She is patient, positive, and incredibly skilled, and as our sessions progressed I experienced noticeable improvement and greater clarity in sound. Her testing identified exactly where sounds were overlapping, and her mapping recommendations led to remarkable improvements—worth every penny and then some.
